Hendersonville
Hendersonville is a mountain community with a population of a little over 10,000. It is a smaller mountain town, a suburb of the larger Asheville metro area, which is only about 5 miles away. Located on a plateau, Hendersonville lies between the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The town is famously called, “The City of Four Seasons.”

Economy
The economy of Hendersonville continues to grow and flourish, with new businesses and companies moving in providing more jobs for residents. The closeness to Asheville and Brevard also has a positive effect on Hendersonville’s economy.

Schools
There are three high schools, three middle schools, and many new elementary schools in the Henderson County school district. The schools in and around the area have great school reports and good student/teacher ratios.

Hospitals
The closest hospitals are the Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville and the Park Ridge Hospital, also located in Hendersonville.

Communities
Hendersonville is close to Asheville, Brevard, Weaverville, Fletcher, Mars Hill, Flat Rock and Black Mountain.

Things to Do
Because Hendersonville is on the National Register of Historic Places, the downtown area of Hendersonville has become a popular spot for the city’s cultural developments and economic growth. Tour the downtown area and stroll through the many specialty and antique shops and restaurants that offer something for everyone. Also a popular spot to visit and check out is the Jump Off Rock, a scenic overlook that shows panoramic views of the Pisgah and Blue Ridge forests. The area has been made famous by an old Indian legend and ghost story. Many residents and visitors alike enjoy a day at the Dupont State Forest which has hiking, biking and streams and waterfalls for all to enjoy. The forest encompasses over 10,000 acres of land in Transylvania and Henderson Counties. If you would like to learn more about former residents of the area, then visit the homes of Carl Sandburg, in Fletcher, or the wealthy tobacco farmer, Oliver Moss’s Historic Johnson Farm. The more popular things to do in the Asheville/Hendersonville area are visit Lake Lure and check out the Biltmore House in Asheville.
